As a freshman at Mchenry County College, I have a busy schedule. I am a full-time student and work fully remote, managing my schedule each day at a time. I also am a sales associate at Lowes in the Lumber & Building Materials department. Technology has always been important to me, ever since I was little. I still remember my first P.C. running Windows XP so I could play Oblivion!
I am one of 6 kids to my Mother and Father and am an uncle of 5. Family is super important to me and they are a big part of my life. I travel between Illinois and Michigan for my long-distance relationship with my girlfriend of two years. It's really fun to get to make the drive each time because it's a chance to relax with the open road, snacks, and my entire playlist for five whole hours.
I really enjoy a structured week and hard work pays off positively for me. A little goes a long way, and I live by that each and every day because if we don't take in the small things in life, we won't ever get to appreciate the bigger things we're handed.
I would like to someday soon see myself in information technology, or web-design. I know that the tech-field is always growing with new job types and I want to do all that I can to make sure that I can stay relevant in the industry. I would like to get into working with A.I. more too so that I can hopefully keep up with all of its advancements. If possible, I'd like to find out how my abilities can be applied to the modern-day construction industry. Whether it be tech on the job site, or on the corporate level. Technology is always progressing in every industry and I want to be part of it.
Hobbies play a big part in my life and they keep me entertained. Sometimes I feel as if I have way too many hobbies and interests that I just can't choose between them sometimes! A lot of things fascinate me and I never want to just be static as a guy who's only into a single thing. For now, here's my top three!
I love to read; particularly theological works from the early centuries of the church, all the way up to the reformers. I also enjoy books about the famous ocean-liners of the past and their stories. I can never be reading just one book at a time, and usually have at least two or three going together throughout a month or two. My favorite authors regardless of genre would have to be F. Scot Fitzgerald, John Calvin, and Richard Hooker. St. Ignatius of Antioch as well. I enjoy in-depth writing, so deeper works from writers such as these are incredibly fascinating for me to pick at.
Model kits have been a favorite of mine since I was little. My dad and I did my first one together, which was a Titanic model kit. I still am to this day obsessed with the R.M.S. Titanic and I even just recently completed a new model of it earlier this year which I am super proud of. It took me about 3 months! It involves masking, painting, air brushing, lots of hand-brushing, and studying of references. I have completed about over 8 or 9 model kits in my lifetime.
I started playing guitar back during 2020, during the early start of quarantine. I started with an electric guitar that my older brother used to play but has since quit practicing. The more I practiced, the better I got at it. I depended on mainly youtube for my progress in the art and have since found it as an incredible tool to learn guitar from. Some bands/artists I really like to play are Rush, The Outfield, Blue Oyster Cult, and more. Rush in particular is really fun to play because their guitarist, Alex Lifeson, incorporates a lot of classical-guitar chords into their songs, which isn't really too much seen in rock and roll music.
I'm taking this class because it is helping me further my education in a topic that I am already knowledgeable about, at least from an introductory understanding. I've played around with HTML over the past few years with a couple different projects and I always found it to be so much fun to use! I hope to be able to design and run my own social media platform some day that is almost like discord. I am already taking programming logic as I do this class, so I know that the two will benefit me in my goals for such a project as aforementioned. I am super excited to learn all that is has to offer and it's my favorite class so far.
